Dr. Hobson has over 30 years of practical experience in product safety evaluation, toxicology and regulatory affairs. His international expertise as a consultant to government and industry clients on product and technology development issues for pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, nanotechnology, wound healing and tissue repair projects is well received and highly valued. He was formerly the Vice President for Medical Research and Development at Battelle Memorial Institute, Vice President for Medical Product Research and Development, Healthpoint, Ltd, Vice President for Research and Development, Chrysalis Biotechnology Inc. and Director of Pharmaceutical Sciences for DPT Laboratories Ltd.
Dr. Hobson received his BS degree from the University of Nebraska and his MS and PhD degrees from Texas A&M University and has over 100 publications in various aspects of toxicology and product development including a book and several book chapters and is an inventor on twelve issued U.S. patents. He is board certified by the American Board of Toxicology and has served as President of the American College of Toxicology, the Roundtable of Toxicology Consultants and the Dermal Toxicology Specialty Section of the Society of Toxicology.
He has been intimately involved in the research, development, manufacturing and commercialization of various therapeutic products including pharmaceuticals and medical devices for wound healing, burn, dermatological, orthopedic, cardiovascular, oral, ophthalmic, anti-infective and tissue repair applications intended for human and veterinary use on an international scale.
Dr. Swaminathan Sivaram
Dr. Swaminathan Sivaram is a polymer chemist of high distinction. Dr. Sivaram is presently an INSA Senior Scientist and Honorary Professor at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, India. Prior to this he held the position of CSIR Bhatnagar Fellow (2010-15) and J.C. Bose National Fellow of the Department of Science and Technology (2007-15) at CSIR-NCL. Prior to this he served as the eighth Director of National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), one of the largest publicly funded research and development laboratories devoted to chemical sciences, from 2002-10. As Director of NCL, Dr. Sivaram built several public/private partnerships with industry, leading to process and product development, intellectual property licensing and technology transfer.
An alumnus of IIT-Kanpur, he received his PhD in Chemistry from Purdue University. He was a Research Associate at the Institute of Polymer Science, University of Akron before returning to India to pursue his professional career. Dr. Sivaram has over 45 years of experience in basic research, process and product R&D and technology management, both in industry and academia. Dr. Sivaram is an elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, and Indian National Academy of Engineering, New Delhi. He is also a Fellow of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Dr. Sivaram is a highly decorated scientist with numerous awards to his credits The President of India recognized him with the award of Padma Sri in 2006. Purdue University conferred on him the DSc degree in 2010 for his exceptional attainment and merit.
Dr. Shekhar Mitra
Dr. Shekhar Mitra is Senior Advisor for innovation strategy and business development, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at Vyome. Shekhar is Founder and President of InnoPreneur LLC and Consulting Partner, Yourencore, engaged in driving innovation strategies, ideation, and building innovation capabilities for CEO and President teams of several Fortune 100 corporations. Shekhar started his career at Procter & Gamble in 1984, moving up the leadership ranks to become the first Asian to become Senior Vice President of Global R&D. He was a member of P&G's top executive team, the Global Leadership Council, before retiring last year.
In his global leadership role at P&G, Shekhar pioneered strategic partnerships in several countries and with leading institutions. He was on-ground in China starting up P&G's well-recognized global technical center in Beijing, and executing P&G's strategic partnership with the Government of India's Council of Scientific & Industrial Research.
His contributions include leading the creation and development of game-changing technology platforms and innovation strategies that have resulted in well-known consumer products like Crest Whitestrips and ProHealth, Aleve Analgesic, Prilosec, Olay Regenerist, Olay Definity Skin Care and Hugo Boss Fragrances, to name a few. These innovations have created and grown major P&G brands and their equities with the help of noticeable benefits provided to global consumers fulfilling their unmet needs in a superior way. Shekhar is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and obtained his PhD in life sciences from Columbia University, after which he was Jane Colvin Medical Research Fellow at Yale University. Shekhar has been awarded over 50 global patents. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor by the US Congress and listed in Congressional Records for his contributions to improving consumer's lives through game changing Innovation, leadership and community service.
Dr. Raman Govindarajan
Dr. Raman Govindarajan is the India R&D Head of Sanofi-Aventis, a leading global pharmaceuticals company, responsible for developing an R&D strategy for India in line with Sanofi-Aventis’ regional and global needs including building research and development partnerships across the Drug discovery and development value chain. He is a medical doctor with residency training in internal medicine and also holds a PhD in cell biology. After his graduate training he spent four years at Cornell University Medical College as a post-doctoral fellow in cell biology working on the cellular basis of hypertension and cloning a unique myosin heavy chain gene in muscular dystrophy. On his return to India, he joined Unilever where he had a successful stint of over sixteen years in cell biology and molecular biology of skin, focusing first on aging and then on pigmentation, irritation, allergy and tumorigenesis.
His other professional roles include research and regulatory affairs leadership positions at Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific. Dr. Govindarajan has also been an Adjunct Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the National University of Singapore.
Prior to Sanofi-Aventis he was Senior Vice President for Discovery Biology, Development and Translational Medicine at Jubilant Biosys and Jubilant Innovation in India. Dr. Raman has published more than 100 internal scientific reports and has 24 filed patents, 25 peer reviewed publications and 45 conference presentations to his name.
Dr. Shiladitya Sengupta, Co-Founder & Director
Dr. Shiladitya Sengupta is an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is also the Co-Founder of Invictus Oncology, Cerulean Pharmaceuticals and Mitra Biotech. Shiladitya's research focuses on the development of novel nanomedicines for cancer and angiogenesis-based diseases. In 2005, he was recognized as one of the top 35 innovators worldwide by MIT Technology Review magazine. He has also received the Shakuntala Amir Chand Award from the Indian Council for Medical Research.
Shiladitya is an alumnus of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and completed his PhD as a Nehru Scholar from Trinity College at Cambridge University and was a Fellow at MIT before joining Harvard. He has published over 35 papers, including in Nature and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
